Chelsea player ratings vs Barrow: Christopher Nkunku seals his claim with clinical hat-trick and Joao Felix shines as Blues crush League Two minnows in Carabao Cup
The Frenchman has been a constant behind Nicolas Jackson in recent years but he was in fine form at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday
Christopher Nkunku sealed his claim for a starting spot by scoring three goals against Barrow in a fine display alongside Joao Felix for Chelsea. Enzo Maresca made 11 changes to his side but any fears of defeat were dispelled after just 15 minutes at Stamford Bridge. Joao Felix cleverly set up Christopher Nkunko for the first goal, before the striker headed in Malo Gusto’s cross to keep Barrow in contention.
Chelsea’s third goal was scored before the 30th minute to end the match. Felix’s free kick went over the crossbar after Barrow goalkeeper Paul Farman failed to hit the post and goal.
The Blues’ game continued after the break. Nkonko and Mihail Modric combined to set up Pedro Neto to score his first goal for Chelsea and the Blues’ fourth of the night.
Nkunko’s hat trick came when he stole a lazy kick and slotted the ball into the net to secure a comprehensive win and a place in the next round for Marska’s men.
