Marcus Rashford Considering Potential New Clubs
Marcus Rashford Considering Potential New Clubs – Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is reportedly considering the possibility of moving to a new club if he is forced to leave Old Trafford. Rashford’s future is in the spotlight, especially after he and Alejandro Garnacho were dropped from the Red Devils squad for the derby against Manchester City on Sunday (15/12/2024). Coach Ruben Amorim revealed that the decision was taken after considering Rashford’s performance in training and several other factors, both on and off the field.
Marcus Rashford Considering Potential New Clubs
islschedule – According to a report from The Guardian, Amorim is determined to kick Rashford out in order to start a cultural change at Old Trafford. Responding to the news, Rashford said that he is ready for a new challenge and will not be upset if he has to part with Manchester United. “Personally, I feel ready for a new challenge. When I leave MU, there will be no upset feelings. You will not hear negative comments from me about Manchester United,” he told journalist Henry Winter, as reported by Football Transfers.
Potential New Club
A report from The Telegraph suggests that Rashford has considered several potential new clubs if he leaves the Theatre of Dreams. The Englishman is keen to continue his career in Spain, suggesting that he could be targeting one of La Liga’s two giants, Real Madrid or Barcelona.
However, according to Football Transfers, Rashford’s chances of joining either club are slim. Real Madrid are currently focusing on their two stars, Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe. Meanwhile, Barcelona are also facing significant financial challenges, making it difficult for them to pay Rashford’s wages.

Saudi Arabia as an Alternative
In recent years, Rashford has created valuable moments for Manchester United, including scoring in a 2-1 win over Liverpool in the third week of the 2022/2023 Premier League season. Currently, he is only one goal behind Wayne Rooney, one of the Red Devils legends, in the list of MU’s highest scorers against Liverpool in Premier League history.
With all the possibilities, will Rashford explore new steps in another league or find opportunities in Saudi Arabia? We will see how things develop further.
If his dream does not come true, Marcus Rashford might consider joining clubs in Saudi Arabia. Clubs in the Middle East have abundant financial resources, so they will not have difficulty offering an attractive salary to Rashford.
Interestingly, there is already Portuguese megastar, Cristiano Ronaldo, who is his former teammate at Manchester United. Ronaldo has already joined Al-Nassr after leaving Manchester United.
On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is also often mentioned in the context of Rashford’s move. However, according to analysis from Football Transfers, the chances of the player moving to the French capital are very small.
Marcus Rashford Transfer: Manchester United Contract Status and Position
Marcus Rashford’s future at Manchester United has come under scrutiny after he was surprisingly left out of the squad for the win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, despite being fit to play. Alejandro Garnacho was also left out of the squad.
After the dramatic 2-1 win, manager Amorim insisted that the departures were not due to disciplinary reasons. He said that in general, neither Rashford nor Garnacho had met the standards expected of a United player. Amorim felt he needed to take the step of removing Rashford in an attempt to spark a positive reaction from him. “In the past, with Rash, you try different approaches, but not all of them work,” he said. “Do we continue to do the same thing? Or do we need a new approach?”
On Tuesday, Rashford gave an interview at the primary school where he grew up in Wythenshawe, south Manchester. When asked about his intentions to stay or leave the club, Rashford stated that he was ready for a “new challenge” and was ready to take the “next step” in his career.
“I wouldn’t be disappointed if I left,” he told Winter. “You won’t hear any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s who I am as a person.”
Rashford added: “If I know the situation is bad, I won’t make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be like that. When I leave, I’ll make a statement and it’ll come from me.”

Why Rashford Might Want to Leave?
A boyhood United fan, Rashford has been a part of the club since the age of seven. When asked if he would always be a ‘Red’, Rashford replied emphatically: “Yes! 100 per cent.” However, he has also faced challenges in maintaining consistency throughout his United career, since his sensational debut as a teenager under Louis van Gaal in 2016.
Manchester United’s Position
In a press conference on Wednesday morning, Amorim chose to see Rashford’s statement about a ‘new challenge’ as a positive sign, indicating his desire to stay at United, get back to his best and help the club compete for trophies again. “We have a new challenge here,” he said. “It’s a big challenge, and for me, it’s one of the biggest challenges in football because we are in a difficult situation. I have said that this is one of the biggest clubs in the world.
It’s a completely new and big opportunity. I really hope all my players are ready for this challenge.”
Rashford’s comments came after questions about his future. When asked if he wanted to keep Rashford at the club, Amorim said: “Of course, because a club like this needs big talents and he is one of them. “
“What he needs to do is perform at the highest level, and that’s my focus. I just want to help Marcus. ”
Amorim said at the time that he had not spoken to Rashford directly, but said he was ready to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup on Thursday. While Garnacho was in the squad that travelled to London on Wednesday, Rashford was not.
There is a willingness among the club’s hierarchy to consider offers for Rashford and the possibility of him leaving in the near future.
Manchester United will not rush to sell Marcus Rashford in January. However, as reported by The Athletic earlier this year, they would consider letting him go if a good enough offer was received. However, getting such an offer may be easier said than done.
As for Rashford’s contract situation, he signed a new five-year deal in the summer of 2023 after his best season as a United player. At the time, he had just one year left on his deal.
Rashford’s current deal runs until the summer of 2028, with no option for a one-year extension usually included in United player contracts. The new deal sees Rashford join the club’s highest-paid players, alongside multiple Champions League winners Casemiro and Raphael Varane.
After scoring 30 goals in 56 appearances in all competitions last season, and with the prospect of losing him as a free agent in a year, there was little argument against United securing his future.
However, that contract now poses a significant barrier to his departure. Rashford’s wages are in excess of £325 million.
